Feeld is an app for making all kinds of connections, but what it’s really known for is helping people discover who they are and what they want.

Of all the dictums inscribed on ancient Greek temples, “know thyself” is the hardest to fulfill — especially if you’re Gen Z living in a rapidly changing digital age that aims to categorize or name every aspect of your personhood. The path to enlightenment may very well be at its steepest, creating a strong need for meaningful connections that foster self-discovery.

As Feeld’s CEO, and as part of the company’s founding philosophy, we center the individual journey over a one-size-fits-all relationship model. In other words, it’s always been important to me — and everyone who works here — that we offer the language, space, and platform to authentically self-express online.

Feeld recently partnered with Dr. Justin Lehmiller, a research fellow at the renowned Kinsey Institute, to conduct a data-driven report on the current state of dating. In it, we found that Gen Z is leading the sexual revolution, and that that revolution starts with the self. Overwhelmingly, Gen Z is the most sexually fluid (71% of Feeld Members surveyed identified as something other than heterosexual) and gender diverse (at 18%, Gen Z reported the most gender diversity of any generation on Feeld).

Gen Z is the most sexually open and kink-friendly generation; simultaneously, they report having less sex and fewer relationships compared to older generations. And — in what we might call the plot twist of a generation — 23% of Gen Z Feeld Members and 81% of Gen Z participants in an external Kinsey Institute survey say they fantasize about monogamy.

If we learned anything from our findings, it’s that Gen Z is complex, contradictory, and category-defying — a.k.a. revolutionary. That’s my platonic ideal of a Feeld Member: a person who is evolving continuously. Whether you’re experimenting, learning, or seeking like-minded people, I’ve seen time and time again that the most affirming moments come from experience.
